Update on Miss E

Well we had our first doctor's appointment on Tuesday afternoon. Emersen's weight had dropped significantly from birth, which is normal, but especially since leaving the hospital. She wasn't showing signs of jaundice really but obviously, we needed to prevent it from developing. Our pediatrician said we just needed to really focus on feeding her and supplementing with formula since my milk wasn't in yet. We were scheduled to come back in the next day.

So, we went home to start feeding diligently. And lo and behold, we go home and feed her, and I pump, and there is milk! So we fed her and fed her, and went back on Wednesday to be weighed again. And, in true Emersen form, she did it big and gained 4 oz in 24 hours. Usually babies only gain 1 oz in that time - we didn't even check for the jaundice numbers again. So we scheduled her 2 week and 2 month appointments.

Emersen didn't mind being at the doctor. She doesn't like being naked or being changed so she really despised having to be laid out for her check up by the doctor. I think I had more trouble with the appointment - getting in and out of the Escape, sitting in chairs, walking, etc - than Emersen so hopefully she won't hate going to the doctor.
