Semi-Annual

I waited to post her 6 month picture until we had our appointment, which was after she was 6 months old. As you can see she's sitting up, ready to eat. She'll stand whenever you'll let her - she even dances a little bit! It seems today she's added na-na to her vocabulary, this in addition to ah-da and da-da. We swear she said "bye" the other day but can't get her to repeat!

We had a pretty good trip to the doctor for our check-up. I gave her some sweet potatoes before going in so she was in a good mood! She weighed 19 lbs 1 oz (92nd percentile) and is 29 inches long/tall (99th percentile). Her head was in the 47th percentile I think? She gained two lbs in two months, and only grew like 1/4 inch so her vertical growing seems to be slowing down. We've stopped Zantac, we've got two teeth. She is rolling both directions and sitting up for long periods of time. Some of the other developmental things were looking for an item that has been dropped, grabbing things, feeding self cracker (we don't have crackers but anything she picks up goes into her mouth...), bearing weight when standing, and so forth. We feel so thankful for a healthy and growing baby! And we're done with the rounds of shots too - I know Emersen is grateful for this as well. And thanks to PAA for hooking us up with samples of our special formula!

I just wanted to take a look back to Emersen at about 3 weeks old now that we've hit the half year point. Her nose has really changed! And mouth. And hair - its thinner and a lot lighter! I still just want to eat her up though.

Here I Am!

I can't believe how much changes in a baby in such a short amount of time. In the span of a couple days, we discovered Emersen getting her two middle bottom teeth in. She sometimes looks like she's dippin tobacco because she sticks her tongue over her new teeth and pushes out her bottom lip. Other times she sucks in a lot or sucks on her tongue. Just this past week, she's sitting up on her own for long periods of time. She can squish low and sit herself back upright. She can catch herself when she leans. She's laughing more now, giggling at daddy a lot. She's saying "da-da" and sometimes on command when Wes asks her to. She doesn't know HE is da-da though of course.

This is Emersen one morning. Gave her a bag to play with...supervised, don't worry. Fortunately, I got to get this picture of her. I kept talking to her so she wouldn't cry or take it off before I got my camera. She was laughing and making her noises the whole time!

This is another place Emersen likes to play. She rolls from her blanket over to the couch and plays with the skirt flap. Sometimes you look down and can only see her feet.

We have our 6 month appointment on Monday. Looking forward to an update on her stats. She's currently eating 4 times a day, every 4 hours. She does 4 bottles for 29 oz of milk a day. She's eating oatmeal and a fruit or veggie twice a day, breakfast and dinner. She LOVES sweet potatoes and carrots. She likes green beans, peas, apples and bananas. She does not like pears much and will NOT eat barley cereal. She has outgrown her size 2 shoes, but isn't quite ready for size 3 all the way, but they'll do. She does 3 naps a day still, her evening nap has shortened. She can stay up 2-3 hours if we're out, not usually while at home. She won't really let you hold her when she's tired - she rubs her eyes, pulls her ear, and wallers. Wes taught me that word. Never used it and only thought pigs did it. But Emersen does it when she's sleepy. And she's back to blowing raspberries with her lips, and now is making some deeper noise where I think she's blowing out through her nose or something.

We pretty much think she's hilarious. And the cutest baby ever. She won't have a complex, will she?

Growing like a Weed

Emersen did this herself, we were NOT trying to silence her. She just got tired of her headband actually being on her head apparently.

Aww.

Sitting up with a little Boppy help. Loving that we're still using our Boppy past newborn-hood. We've been using the Bumbo a lot too. It's great to use the tray with it as a place to feed her. If only she could stay focused. Distracted by the TV so often. This past Monday it was the music lead in for the LEX18 news.

Soo close...she's getting so close to sitting up on her own for extended periods of time. She only face plants occasionally. She's bonked her head on the wall only once.

Emersen has her SECOND tooth - all in one week! I couldn't believe it when I was feeling around on the first tooth, to the right she had another coming through. Yesterday you could tell it was bothering a little, but she's been a champ!

Mish Mash

This bag is bigger than ME!

I put this scarf on myself, thank you very much.

This is the life...

Chompers

Well, Emersen's getting a tooth! We felt it for the first time today. The water works have increased. You can't really see anything but can feel a little something for sure. Glad it hasn't really been bothering her. And she's not interested in a teething ring either.

Aww, my big little girl. We have our 6 month appointment towards the end of this month. Can't wait to check her stats again. We went shopping this weekend and bought some clothes - in 9 month size. She has a little room to grow fortunately. This was only like the 2nd time I've actually bought her clothes since she was born. Others have given us clothes and we have many hand me downs. It was fun to pick out things myself!

Wes and I were talking today about how obsessed we are with Em. I was telling him how cute I think she is, how much I love her, and how I just want to eat her up...but that then I wouldn't be able to squeeze her up. This is the extent of mush that I'm sharing with you because it's awkward to be part of someone else's mushing and gushing.

the end.

Houdini

I don't want to create a self-fulfilling prophecy for Emersen, but seriously? How does she do this? And why can't she undo this?

In this case, she actually went BACK TO SLEEP. Usually, this positioning causes her to cry/squawk because she thinks she's stuck. However, if she sticks her limbs out on the other side, she can remove them. I've seen her do it on the video monitor!

She is awake now because I went in to her room, left to get the camera, and came back. But she didn't even start wiggling or anything, just laid there.

Here, I think she might be thinking "Help me, help me, I'm stuck. Why are you taking my picture lady? I'm stuck." But it's just a guess.

This child is outrageous, hilarious and ridiculous on a regular basis. I do think Wes would say to this "she takes after her mom." Whatever. We just add excitement to his life and our own. I can only imagine what our years hold if she's this active now. I mean, she changes directions, positions, etc throughout naps and sleeping. She ends up down in one corner in the blind spot of the video monitor. The other day I looked up and no baby in the crib according to the monitor.

Oh geez. I just love her.
